I have to make an apology. I, Jonas, apologize to all 7 of my loyal readers for failing to fulfill my duties. This is supposed to be somewhat of a travel blog right? I’m supposed to wine you and dine you with all the hidden gems of the cities littered across the LFL’s schedule. I ran into a problem last week though in that I didn’t travel. Not only did I not travel, I spent each night at home in my own bed.
As you may (or probably don’t) know, I’m born and raised a native of Los Angeles. That means that when the LA Temptation are the home team I don’t have to hop on an airplane and I don’t have to sleep in a hotel. It’s great for me, not so much for you my dear ‘On The Road’ diehards.
However, what I can do is provide you with some clarity on some LA myths and misconceptions. Let’s run through them: yes, I’ve seen many a celebrity. Yes, the traffic stinks (if you’re trying to get anywhere between about 3 pm to 8 may God bless your soul). No, I can’t surf. No, I don’t have a marijuana club card. Yes, In ‘n Out is the best. The thing about burgers though is that they’ve become an art unto themselves. I can name 5-10 fantastic burgers, chain or not, here in LA that will titillate your taste buds.
Of course, the Los Angeles Temptation don’t play their home games in Los Angeles proper. In the past they’ve played games at the historic Los Angeles Coliseum, but both of their scheduled home games this season take place at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, CA. The arena itself is very nice, but Ontario is kind of blah. Ontario is located in what is known as the Inland Empire, which is a land of strip malls and chain restaurants. The nice thing about Ontario is that it’s halfway between LA and Palm Springs which is a great place if you’re a golfer, Canadian or retired.
Next week’s post should be back up to speed as we travel to Austin, Texas. Austin is of course the capital of Texas but it also happens to be one of the fastest growing cities in America and the lone liberal haven in a state that is redder than a tomato. Austin provides an eclectic mix of hipsters, college kids and politicians that makes for an amazing hub of activity.
So stay tuned for next week and enjoy your weekend.
