Welcome to the 2016 LFL season, what a year it should be! There’s expansion teams that are full of energy and excitement, then there’s the reloaded returning franchises looking to show the rookies whose boss.
How rude, I’ve failed to introduce myself: my name is Jonas. In this case it’s more than the title of a Weezer song and actually is my story. I’m born and raised in Los Angeles and graduated from the University of Kansas (don’t worry, you’re only the thousandth person to wonder why I went from sunny LA to the plains of Kansas). I’ll be traveling to each LFL game this season and sharing my thoughts on what transpires over the course of the year. Think of this space as a supplement to Dessie Mitcheson’s “Outside the Lines” blog, except that any picture of me will be way less sultry.
I’m lucky in that I’ve been able to travel to each city and region that the LFL occupies over the course of my life, but that’s not to say I’m not psyched to go to each place. “But what about Omaha Jonas? Isn’t Omaha just a lame Mid-western town?” Don’t sleep on Omaha. The people of that region are friendly and like to get down. If that’s not enough for you they have delightful steaks.
In this space I’ll bring to you each and every turn of the LFL schedule. I’ll keep my neck on a swivel and avoid the flying fish in Seattle, I’ll traverse 6th Street and try to keep Austin Weird, and I’ll….I guess I’ll go to the aquarium in Atlanta. The ATL honestly has it’s work cut out for it.
If you see me at the games or around town feel free to say what up. I’ll be the dorky looking fellow with the thick- rimmed glasses and generally a five to six o’clock shadow on my face.
I’ve had a chance to speak to each head coach in the LFL and let’s just say they are champing at the bit to get this season going. I don’t blame them, the anticipation is killing me as well so let’s raise that banner in Seattle and get going.
